Weekly Games

Same eight guys.
Same Saturday.

The regular game doesn't need a spreadsheet. It needs the skins worked out before anybody reaches the parking lot. Set it up once, run it every week, settle it the same morning.

Entering scores for hole 3, a 193-yard par 3: four players on one screen, a number pad from 1 to 8, and the live match status underneath

Two skins carried. Then three.

Everybody halved the fourth, so it carried. Somebody won the fifth outright, so that's four skins to him — unless the tie on seven wiped something, which is where the argument starts and the guy with the notes app goes quiet. The app does that arithmetic as the scores land, and it doesn't get tired on the back nine.

Carryovers, handled

Ties carry, the pot rolls forward on its own, and the payout is waiting when the last group signs off.

Closest to the pin

Nominate the holes and the stake. Distances go in as they happen and ties split automatically.

Three tee times, one board

Twelve players go out in three groups twenty minutes apart and come in an hour apart. Whoever has the card in each group taps four scores a hole, and everyone else — including the two still on the seventh — sees the same standings.

  2. 2 Shankapotamus +$90 2pts

One card per group

Nobody hands the phone around, and nobody has to remember to enter their own.

No signal, no problem

Scores save on the phone in a dead zone and sync when the bars come back.

Paid up before you leave the lot

Skins, closest to the pin, whoever covered the carts — all of it nets into one number per person, in one direction. Mark a transfer sent and it moves from pending to confirmed, so next Saturday doesn't start with somebody still owed from the last one.

The trip settlement: you are up $1,602.69, with Chris Vaughn, Owen Pratt and Theo Nakamura each owing you $401.31 and Sam Ellery $398.76 — the four adding up to the total

Set it up once

Save the game as a template — its name, its length, the format you always play and the costs you always split — and next week starts from that instead of from a blank screen. The setup is a thing you did in March, not a thing you do every Friday night.

Same format, every week

Skins, match play, best ball — whatever the game is, it comes preloaded rather than being re-chosen each time.

A code for the new faces

Six characters, read out in the parking lot. The guy filling in for somebody's shoulder is in before the first tee.

Last week is still there

Every previous week keeps its scores, its payouts and its argument, which is useful in about May.

What it won't do

It doesn't keep a season-long league table. Each week carries its own standings and its own settlement, so Saturday's skins are paid on Saturday rather than accruing into a total somebody has to reconcile in October. If a running order of merit across the whole year is the thing you need, this isn't it — and we'd rather say so here than after you've talked eleven people into downloading it.

Weekly game questions

Can I run the same game every week?

Yes. Save the setup as a template — name, length, format and the expense categories you always use — and each week starts from that rather than from scratch. Every week is its own event with its own standings and its own settlement.

Does it handle skins carryovers?

Yes. A halved hole carries and the pot rolls forward automatically as scores are entered, so nobody is reconstructing which holes were tied when the last group comes in. Closest to the pin works the same way: nominate the holes and the stake, and ties split.

Does it keep a season-long total across every week?

No. Standings and money resolve per outing, so each week settles on its own. Points races run across an event, not across a year. If you want a running order of merit for the whole season, this isn't the app for that part.

We tee off in waves. Does that work?

Yes, and it's the case it's built for. Groups going out twenty minutes apart and finishing an hour apart all report to the same board as they play, so the standings are current whether you're on the seventh or in the parking lot.

Does everybody need the app?

Whoever is keeping the card in each group does — one phone scores all four players. Anyone else who wants to watch the skins and the standings needs it too, and joining takes a six-character code rather than an account hunt.

Is it free?

Yes. Free on iPhone, no subscription, no premium tier and no per-round charge. Android is in development.
